We've been doing this for long time and we have learnt a lot along the way. We took note of what our most successful clients did to be super successful. If you follow the tips below, you will sell more tickets than if you choose not to follow them. These 3 key elements are the key to selling more tickets:
 
Create buzz and excitement. People don't want to go to something boring, nor risk inviting friends to something boring. It must look GREAT!
 
Stay front of mind. People need to keep seeing it and reminded that it's going to be an exciting event.
 
Delegate the tasks below to share the work load and check progress. Many hands make light work.

We give you an array of free marketing tools (see
free extra’s) and marketing tips (see below) to help you promote & advertise your event with maximum effectiveness to ultimately increase your ticket sales and profits.

The key is to be excited, to look excited and to delegate key people within your organisation to promote how excited you all are about your event - using the tools we provide and the marketing tips below.
 
Have a Reason
What do you need money for? Sports gear? Student Flights? Musical Instruments? What exactly? People are more inclined to buy a ticket to support your goal, if they know EXACTLY what they money is for and they also love hearing you hit your target, so remember to mention that on the night.
 
Have a Target Figure
Know exactly how much you money you need to raise and aim slightly above it. Tell people how much you need to raise, put it on your promotional material.

Ask us to add your target to your promotional material (the free extras) when you book.
 
Know It Works & That It’s Funny
We’ll be adding a video to this soon, but we’ve run a lot of these. We use professional comedians and they are the best in the game. Not the biggest and mos famous, but the best ope the circuit. These are the guys that have mastered the live comedy circuit. The make a living out of making people laugh. Our performer have worked in all the best comedy clubs in Australia and sometimes globally. What you will be getting is the best of best and a price you cannot beat. We do this to help the community, not to get rich.

We’ve pulled awesome crowds (300-600) with our fundraising shows and we have done some smaller crowds (60-80), but generally the outcome is the same, the audiance laughs until they are nearly sick and walk away with a great feeling after a great night out. Be excited about who you are getting in your show, we bring the best & expect to feel proud of what your friends say about it. Expect them to be impressed as thousands have been since we started.

Have a game plan

Are you going to try and get sponsors?
Why will people come to your event? Excitement!
How will you make it look exciting?
Are you all excited? If not, why and how do you get excited?
Has your committee purchased their tickets already? That helps people get excited and committed.
Who will you be targeting to buy tickets first and next? Then who after that.
Are you going to target businesses to purchase tables of 10?

Have an Execution Plan

  • Chat to members first about the important of making your event look exciting.

  • Send 1st email notification asking everyone to comment on the Facebook page when it goes live - explain why it is so important. All our communication with members of your organisation should be pushing how important the Facebook event page launch is and how important it is that everyone likes it and comments on it the moment it goes live and to talk about how excited they are, then to share it, that way everyone that looks at the shared contact will see load of excited people, joining, liking and commenting. Seeing excited people is exciting and encourages sharing!

  • Send out and put up Posters (If you put posters up at your work and those people saw your Facebook past an all the excited people, that poster will be much more effective to them talking action and being a ticket.

  • Send Second Email asking people to comment on Facebook again at a certain time and date. This is powerful stuff if you can get your crew motivated enough to nail it.

  • Send promo email that we provided you with.

  • Repeat Repeat Repeat.

POSTERING ON STEROIDS
 
Key Task: To get the most out of your posters.
Take a photo and share it on Facebook
Make posters super effective by using them wisely as part of your marketing mixt. Posters don’t work very well by themselves, but when you take photos of the places you put them, it can be more fun and if you post them to your social media account, you create a lot of buzz and create an exciting they create an exciting opportunity to make your event look super exciting and popular. Get Organised.

1.
Make a list of fun people & work with them do the posters - as outlined below.

2. Save yourselves some time and make a list of the places you can put the posters up - don’t just go looking, write them down and map it out, to be efficient.

3. Put the posters up, take photos of the posters once they’re up and post the photos to facebook.

4. Encourage people to comment on the poster images you post on Facebook.


** USE THESE TIPS BELOW TO HELP YOU - & HAVE FUN WITH IT
 
Get Creative

Think about cool way you can take photos of your poster, which will inspire people to make a comment on Facebook. Do that to increase your marketing reach dramatically and to make your event super exciting! Here are some ideas…


Example: Have line of cars in a car park with posters taped all over their front window and side windows. Take a photo and post it to Facebook with a tag saying “good luck getting these off”. Then ask for more ideas from people who comment. Make sure you have permission from the car owners, or you do this with your own cars, or friends cars. It’s just for a fun photo to get people talking. Don’t damage stuff! Take the posters off afterwards.

Example: You could tape the posters over the toilet bowl, or over the front of a urinal at the local pub, at work, at home (if your a germaphobe). and take a photo and post it to Facebook with a tag line. “You can’t miss this advertising”. Then ask for more ideas from people who comment.

Example: You could tape it to the inside of the smoko fridge at work. So it’s hanging over the milk. Even of you take the photo and take it down. Then ask for more ideas from people who comment.

You could run a competition.
Post a link, so people can download your posters. Tell them whoever comes up with the best idea, or uploads the best/coolest/funniest photo of your poster in a crazy place, will win a free ticket. Make sure you don’t encourage dangerous actions.
 
Putting posters in Cafe’s etc…
Don’t take the photo of your poster to close up, or it’s pointless. You need to see the surroundings too, but make sure it close enough to make out that your poster, but far enough to get yoru surroundings. Logos, people etc…

If you’re putting your posters up at someones business, get their permission to take a photo with their business logo in the image, and shaking the managers or owners hand, and say you’d like to post it to your Facebook event page to help promote their business as a way of saying thanks. When you do, tag their business in the post and it ask the cafe’ to post it to their wall. If they do, all their facebook fans will see your advertising. Make sure your post has your contact details visible and a link to where they can get tickets!!

VENUE: Venues are not alway the best at doing what they say they are going to do, so don’t drop the posters off to them and expect your posters to go up in the best spots, infact if you don’t do the posters yourself, don’t be surprised if they don’t go up until the day before your event. Go in, take your own bluet tac and offer to put them up for them. Ask if the bluets is alright to use and go for gold.



 
Posters at Your Venue
Venues are not alway the best at doing what they say they are going to do, because they are very busy and often under staffed, so don’t drop the posters off to them and expect your posters to go up, or at least, in the best spots.

Go in, take your own blue tac and offer to put them up for them. Respect their wall paper and ask what they would like you to use to pout them up. Then go for gold!

Accountability
I’m a man of my word and I work hard. If i say I’m going to do something, then I do it. If someone says they are going to put posters up, you expect them to do it - right? That’s why posting the photo to Facebook is so awesome. You know if people are putting the posters up, as well as it generating massive reach. That’s a bit cheeky, but it’s good to know.

Ask everyone in your organisation if they will commit to putting posters up and posting the photos of the posters to Facebook. Ask them to take the posters to work & put them up in their smoko room, inside any changing rooms & on the back of toilets doors - if they can. Ask your organisation members to get their family and friends to do that same. When all these get posted to your Facebook Event page, your Facebook reach becomes massive, compared to no uploading the images. Specially if you have fun with it!

Alway have a call to action. Tell people what action you want them to take, because if you don’t they don’t know what you’re encouraging them to it.

Final Note
Don’t drive traffic to boring Facebook page. A dead and boring looking Facebook Event Page is a buzz kill! If you’re trying to promote your event as fun & popular, this is the worst thing you can do.

Make sure your Facebook it pumping and lots of your organisation members have commented before you start posting images of your posters going up at cafe’s, in smoko rooms etc, because the poster images will push the excitement over the top, if your Facebook event page is already pumping wiht energy!

Example: If one of your co-workers saw your posters at work, or at a cafe’ and they go to your Facebook event page and nobody has commented and no one has clicked to say they are attending, then it will look like no one is interested in your event, and it’s going to look boring. Anyone that sees your boring Facebook page is going to be hard to sell a ticket to. Be sure to get a commitment from your organisation members, to say that they will post a good handful of comments before as soon as your event is ready.

Get organised well before the night and make sure your entire organisation has seen, read and understands this page and the importance of working in unison to create EXCITEMENT!

Call your friends and family and ask them to comment on your poster images if you have to. That alone will make your friends and family think you’re serious about this event and it’ll remind them that they need to buy a ticket - without your even mentioning it.

Make sure you organisation members are commenting & sharing - right up to the event.

If you images are fun, people are more inclined comment and to share them.

Comments on your event page make your event look popular. Popular is exciting! Exciting sells tickets!

A Facebook post takes about 5 seconds. Go


Have a call to action. Ask people to buy tickets and direct them to where they can get them.

Key Task: To ensure your Facebook event looks exciting and to ensure people are commenting to create an event BUZZ.
Wow isn’t Facebook massive these days! We have been doing this for years & the key to a successful comedy fundraising event is to make your event look exciting! Facebook is incredibly powerful at doing this EASILY!

Excitement is the main selling point! Your event can look super exciting on social media, simply by people in your organisation chatting about your event and showing others that you are all pumped about it.

The key to a powerful start. Get your committee to buy their tickets first! This is a must! How can anyone on the committee be truly behind the event, if they haven’t committed to going themselves? You CANNOT promote an event effectively, be excited about the event and you can’t encourage people to hurry up and buy their ticket, if you don’t have yours yet!

Once you have a good bunch of tickets sold (I.e. your committee members have theirs and those that will definitely be going have theirs too (husbands, wives, close friends, parents etc), it makes promoting the event easier because if you know there are 40 tickets sold, you know it going to be good. If no tickets are sold 6 weeks in, it hard to tell people it going to be a cracker night.

You must create BUZZ, get everyone excited & make the excitement public on social media, and keep the excitement up. You need lots of people to comment on your event, anything is good. Sound excited, “Wow Can’t wait”! Talk about tickets sold, who purchased them, what people are saying, if you have a group interested, sponsorship, if you have your ticket, if you partner has their ticket, if not, when you will get them. If you need more tickets, post if on Facebook. Create a buzz, have a laugh, show people how to share the event.

Make it look fun, make it look like people a pumped! One or two comments by one person is NOT exciting. Hit Facebook buss as a group right off the bat to get a snowball effect.

EXAMPLE: If a potential ticket buyer sees your posters somewhere (at a cafe’) and decide to look into it and find themselves on your facebook event page. What will happen if nobody has commented and no one is talking about your event. If it looks boring and unexciting - do you think that person will by a ticket? What if it looks exciting and lots of people are pumped?

We have gone all out and created a list of things to say to get the ball rolling. Choose a couple of these and change them up a bit to make them your own. It doesn’t matter what you way, as long a lost of people are commenting and getting behind your event and looking excited.

Key Task: To get a story about your event printed in the local news papers (for free)
There’s a lot more to your comedy show than you may think. It’s not called the comedian and his plan to save the world for the fun of it. Nick Johns has actually designed an incredible concept too make a massive difference in the world. It’s called Cashdupp which is expected to launch in early 2017.

The fact that Nick is helping the community to raise funds, while also in the process of executing an incredible website that makes it free to protect rainforests and more has proven to be a great to way to get the medals attention. We make it easy for you to approach the media with a great story that will help promote your fundraiser…

This person needs to download the press releases (below) and make the required changes to personalise it to your event & organisation, then to contact the all your local news papers to print the story and include links or phone numbers to get tickets and your custom webpage. Below are two press releases templates you can change to suit your event. The paper is welcome to call us for interviews and photos.

NOTE: Remember if you are dealing with the media, be onetime, call when you say you will, do what they need.

JOB ROLL: ARRANGE RAFFLES & SPONSORS
 
Key Task: To secure great raffle prizes & to connect with potential sponsors.
Raffles are great, but a sponsor is better, maybe you want both.

Going to your local shops and asking for free stuff is one option to secure great raffle prizes and it works well. One of our clients even purchased a wheelbarrow and walked around with it asking local shops for donations - they did very well receiving a free surfboard, an cordless drill & other great items to raffle off, but you can also treat this like a sponsorship deal.

Tip: If you don’t ask, you wont get anything. Get organised well before the night and you’ll make a more on the door.

Here are some great resources for getting sponsors. Remember: You can ask for money, a gift donation, or or you can ask for businesses to buy 10 tickets for their staff (as a from of sponsorship).

Iff you think about 20 businesses buying 10 tickets for their staff, it’s a great option because it’s a quick route to selling 200 tickets and it’s great for the sponsor because they get the tickets and the sponsorship advertising for the same price they would pay for 10 tickets alone.
